EFT Ends A Strong Addiction to Smoking Cigarettes

"Mario" was a heavy smoker but he said that he definitely wanted to stop. The level of his desire to smoke remained at 9 or 10 out of 10 even after two sessions of EFT.

Although his desire to smoke remained high, I soon realized that it was good because the cigarettes themselves functioned as important "keys" that unlocked many of his other issues. For example, I asked him to tell me about the first time he smoked and after several rounds and different approaches, we tapped on:

Even though the first person who gave me a cigarette was my best friend and he was killed in an accident and I feel like I keep him with me when I smoke … I realize that my favorite memories of him were when we were doing other things besides smoking … and I choose to keep him in my heart instead of in my lungs.

Although there was a lot of emotional release with this tapping, his desire to smoke was still very high so I asked him why he still smokes and we tapped on:

Even though I smoke to be accepted by other smokers at work… I believe in my ability to be a good worker.

Even though I smoke to have friends, I choose to have friends who will live a long time and be healthy without smoking.

I asked him about the first time he did something that hurt himself in order to have friends. He said it was too private to tell me so we used the Movie Technique and followed your suggestion for such private matters by having the client hum the words instead of saying them: Even though I hum, hum, hummed, I completely forgive myself. (It worked great!)

By that point, we had the cigarette as a key to issues of being accepted, to having friends, and to keeping the memory of a friend alive. This nicotine key continued to open more doors and gave him many areas of emotional freedom but his desire to smoke continued! I asked him to tell me again why he still smokes. He said it made him feel peaceful.

So we worked on times in his life when he felt nervous (his opposite to feeling peaceful). Once we cleared those times, we did future tapping on situations where he expected to feel nervous. Even though I will feel nervous the next time my boss judges my work with that terrible look he has...

So we went back to other people judging him with a terrible look and cleared major issues with his judgmental father. Then, at the start of our fourth session, his desire to smoke had finally dropped down to a 5 out of 10 and he said that the cigarette suddenly smelled like licorice (which he doesn't like). Many times during all of the sessions, I had the cigarette near him or in his hand or in his mouth as you taught us in the DVD "Six Days at the Veteran's Hospital", but finally, he did not want to even touch it. He simply laughed and said, "Che bello!" an Italian exclamation for "How beautiful!".

I called Mario two weeks after his "Che bello!" session and he is still smoke-free in spite of the teasing he gets from his co-workers. He works in an automobile body shop. According to law, the body shop had to put up a separation to divide a smoker's area from an area for non-smokers in the snack room. They put up a flimsy plastic shower curtain and the smoke from the smokers' side comes easily to the side where Mario sits, sipping his coffee, all alone but thankful and happy to be free from cigarettes and leg pain.

He continues tapping on himself and describes his life now as "Sono tranquillo." (I am peaceful). This was my first experience with using EFT for cigarette addiction and I have since learned from fabulous articles written by EFT'ers on your site, that there is often a certain physical feeling before the craving for a cigarette starts. I recently used the technique of identifying the craving and tapping on earlier times in the client's life when the physical feeling appeared.

A husband and wife were guests for a few nights in my Bed & Breakfast. The husband only had one EFT session and the wife had two sessions. They reduced their smoking, but did not completely end it before their vacation ended. After a 25 year habit of smoking at least a pack every day, the husband was amazed to go two days with only smoking one half of a cigarette.

The wife, also a heavy smoker, went an entire day without smoking. She said she was amazed that she didn’t have her usual desire to smoke when she saw 30 people smoking one day in a nearby town. Seeing other people smoke had been a big trigger for her.

I referred them to EFT in their home country and expect to hear great results. Thank you, Gary for teaching me this awesome way to truly help people.

After EFT, Patient with Leukemia Begins Making White Blood Cells

One day, I was driving by the hospital on my way to completing some errands. It flashed through my mind that I needed to go see Pauline. I argued that I was running errands. No, right now you need to go see Pauline.

Pauline was a member of my practice. She had experienced the horrific death of her granddaughter about 3 years ago. She felt as though she needed to be a rock for the family so her grief was put on the back burner. Two and a half years later she was diagnosed with leukemia. She had been undergoing chemo and I had not seen her in my office for over six months. Historically her care in my office included Network Spinal Analysis and Emotional Freedom Technique.

The hospital is just down the street from my office so I listened and turned into the parking lot. When I walked into Pauline’s room I was shocked. She was heavily medicated and on a respirator. Her lungs sounded extremely congested. Her daughter was sitting in the corner. She looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. “Mom is not making any white blood cells. She has not been making any white blood cells for three days now. The doctors can do nothing else for her.”

I walked over to Pauline, picked up her hand and started to tap. As I tapped I told Pauline, “Your only job is to make white blood cells, trillions and trillions of white blood cells. Jesus and the angels will be here and help you to make white blood cells.” As I talked I tapped. Mostly I tapped on the Karate Chop point, but a few times I did tap on her face and the collarbone point. I know that I just kept telling her that that was her only job - making white blood cells. A nurse walked in … oh well, keep tapping.

When I saw a corner of her mouth turn up in a smile I stopped tapping. She didn’t open her eyes, but the smile was enough. I continued to hold her hand and talk to her. I must have been in her room a total of 30 minutes at the most. Before I left the room Pauline lifted her hand and wiggled her finger “good bye” at me.

Two months later I received a call from Pauline. She was home. She told me that her family didn’t know what I was doing, but they knew that what ever it was, it caused her turn around. She started making white blood cells immediately and within three days she was making enough WBC’s to fight infection.

About a month ago Pauline’s daughter walked into my office for care. She said that indeed that tapping was when her mom’s condition turned for the better.

EFT Clears Poison Oak – Gone Without a Trace in 90 Minutes

Recently, I spent hours weeding a large open field that is part of our property. From past experience I knew there was a little bit of poison oak buried in there under the other weeds so I wore heavy gloves and long sleeves. Of course, the sleeves slid up a little and left that 2 inch band of bare skin between glove and cuff. I was careful and did not see any poison oak.

Two days later I awoke with an itch on my wrist and thought a bug had bitten me. During my shower the “bug bite” turned into “several bug bites” swelling and bright pink in the bracelet of bare wrist from my weeding adventure. Uh-oh, the blisters were forming and I expected the worst. When I get poison oak, it always spreads beyond the exposed area.

But, I thought of EFT and that Gary would say “try it on everything”. So first I did a round of just psychological reversal tapping on the karate chop point saying:

Even though poison oak is caused by an oil and cannot be stopped by EFT…
Even though I believe this is a chemical reaction and cannot be stopped….
Even though it feels ridiculous to try EFT on this poison oak…

That negative part of me handled, I did the EFT setup rubbing the sore spot saying,

Even though my wrist is itching and broken out in bumps…
Even though I have these poison oak bumps on my wrist…
Even though I’m getting itchy blisters on my wrist…
I did several rounds of tapping on “this itching” and “this poison oak”.

Then I switched to a want:

Even though I want my wrist to be smooth and blemish free…
Even though I want my wrists to be itch-free and comfortable…
Even though I want my skin to feel calm and smooth…

A few more rounds of tapping and then finally the choice, as follows,

Even though my wrist itches, I choose to let go of this poison oak reaction…
Even though I have these blisters, I choose to have clear and itch-free skin…
Even though this poison oak oil got on me, I choose to have clear and beautiful skin…

The itching stopped immediately. And, unbelievable but true, in 1 ½ hours the skin on my wrist was completely clear and there was never another sign of that poison oak. Hard to believe, but there it is.

Pain From Severe Lower Back Injury is Resolved with Three Rounds of EFT

This was proven to be correct when an appointment was made by a 45 year old gentleman who told me that following a serious injury to his lower back at work, he was hospitalized for 6 months and confined to a wheelchair for a further 2 years. Physiotherapists had worked with him over this period and eventually got him walking with the aid of 2 crutches, but he was only able to cover about 30 metres (100 feet) at a time, was on powerful analgesics, but still suffering a large amount of pain and was told there was little more that could be done for him. He made an appointment for next day.

When he arrived I could tell from his efforts to walk his lower back and legs were pain ridden, and his posture was very lopsided. He was completely exhausted from the efforts to get to me. He found it very difficult to get onto the treatment couch but insisted he would.

Although I had only just gained a small understanding of EFT I began talking through the problems he had faced since the injury. It became obvious that he felt exceptionally guilty about his inability to help his wife when cancer struck and she underwent a major operation. He was also concerned that his earning power had dropped to zero. He indicated his quality of life was only a 2 on a scale of 0 to 10.

I gained his permission to try EFT with him and began with the KC point. We went through a basic setup procedure using,

Even though I have this serious injury…

Even though I could not help my wife in her time of urgent need…

Even though I can no longer support my family…

When we reached the collarbone point he began sobbing, his breathing became laboured and his lower body began twitching. We stopped and I explained that I thought he was going through a very strong emotional release. He gradually regained composure and we carried on.

At the end of the second round he requested that we continue indicating he felt much better emotionally and his pain was reducing. After the third round I prepared to help him off the couch. Amazingly he stood up by himself and using only one stick began walking around the treatment room.

I advised him not to be too adventurous and take things a little easy. With tears of happiness in his eyes he could not thank me enough. I explained that EFT and himself were the healers and I was only a channel. Talking through his treatment he now said he felt his quality of life had gone to wonderful 9 out of 10 and could not wait to get home to his wife. I talked to him and his wife 3 days after the treatment and both of them cannot believe his recovery.

Gary, after running a sports injury clinic using shiatsu, Reiki and ki healing for almost 20 years I cannot believe how EFT helped this patient and intend to use it at every opportunity. Thank you for making this treatment available to all, I look forward to getting much more experience and understanding but for a first attempt I truly am amazed

May your EFT God be with You

Getting over "Love Pain" With EFT

By Raul Vergini, MD

Yesterday I saw a 52 year old woman who was suffering from "love pain." Her new boy friend, "Roby", was having an affair with another woman. This devastated her and she began four months of pain, sadness, crying, losing weight, scenes with him, etc.

When I saw her, she had difficulty speaking about this issue without tears. She repeated many times that she wanted Roby back badly, and that she would have used all her "weapons" to obtain this. About the other woman, she said that she had met her, but avoided making a scene.

When I asked about her negative feelings of anger, guilt, jealousy, treason, etc. she was confused and unable to give me a 0-10 intensity level. So I asked: "What do you feel when you suffer for this problem? Do you have something physical also? Heaviness, pain, palpitations, etc."? She answered "yes, I feel a weight, an heaviness here on my chest".

I asked: "How intense on a 0-10 scale is it now?"

She said: "About 5 or 6 now, but yesterday it was higher". So I said to myself: "let's begin with these physical issues and then we'll see how to go on". So we did a short round with the set-up: "Even though I have this heaviness on my chest...". and the heaviness went down to 0.

Then she told me: "Now I feel a knot or a lump here in my chest, that makes it difficult to swallow. It was not present before, but I notice it now that the heaviness has gone". So we proceeded with "Even though I have this lump here in my chest that makes me difficult to swallow...". Only a short round. And she said: "It's gone" and smiled. I asked "What is gone?" And she said: "Everything, the lump is gone and my head is empty". I asked: "Empty is a negative or positive statement?" She answered: "Positive, my head is free now" and laughed.

Then she said: "Oh my God, what did you do to me? Only a minute ago I was crying and wanting Roby back, while now I am laughing and I'm thinking that I can easily live without him! And I hated that woman, while now I am feeling compassionate about her! It's not me! I'm happy now! What's happening? It's amazing!"

She was full with joy, and her face immediately showed the change. She seemed five years younger than five minutes before. I think that when a patient laughs at something brought tears only minutes before, a core issue was cleared.

Then she told me that she feared that it was too good to be lasting, and that maybe tomorrow she would wake up with that sadness again. A short round treated this fear also.

I was really surprised and amazed at this result. I had worked only on a couple of physical feelings and all that big emotional distress vanished with them, in a second, like pushing a button! EFT never ceases to amaze me.

Using EFT for ADD

By Don A. Blackerby, Ph.D.

A mother and her 11 year old son came to Colorado from St. Louis in order for me to do some Academic Consulting with him. His grades were low in all the primary academic subjects and he had many of the symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Since his mother did not want to medicate him for the ADD symptoms she brought him to me for alternative treatments.

After my assessment, it became very obvious that his learning strategies were very inefficient and ineffective. He was basically an auditory learner and would simply repeat things over and over as a way to learn them. This is not a good way to learn academic subjectsit is very boring and time consuming and just does not work very well. I taught him how to become a visual learner, which is a more interesting and faster way to learn.

After learning the new learning strategies, most students interest and motivation will start to increase. This student vehemently declared that he just didn't like school and did not want to go back (he was on spring break). I decided to use EFT on this emotional block.

He declared that his dislike for school on an intensity scale of 0-10 was a 10. The set-up was Even though I dislike school and don't want to go back on Monday I totally and completely accept myself. After the tapping his intensity only dropped to a 9. Even though I still have some remaining dislike for school and do not want to go back on Monday, I.. His SUDS dropped to a 5, but then he changed his mind to a 7. I sensed that he did not want the tapping to work, so I gave him a break.

After he came back, I decided to get much more specific by asking him the question, What specifically do you not like about going to school? His reply was swift and firm My PE teacher yells at us all the time and my math teacher gets mad at me and John (not real name) who sits next to me is always talking and moving around and he gets me in trouble. Taking them one at a time the set-ups were:

Even though my PE teacher yells at us, I totally and completely accept myself and forgive him.

Even though my math teacher gets mad at me, I know it has more to do with him than me, and I totally and deeply accept myself and forgive him for losing control.

Even though John gets me into trouble, I forgive him and totally and completely accept myself.

Being more specific helped bring his intensity down and then I decided to use EFT to install a more empowering belief. After talking to him about how much he had learned in his visit with me, I asked him what he thought would be a better belief to have about school which would help make school more successful and fun. He decided on With the new learning strategies I have learned, I can make school as easy and fun as I want it to be. He tapped each of the points as he repeated the new belief over and over. The relief in his voice and face was very evident.

After another break, his mother wanted me to help him with some of his ADD symptoms. She reported that he got frustrated easily and would then get angry at her when she wanted to check his homework. Set-up-- Even though I get frustrated and mad at my mother when she checks my homework, I totally and completely accept myself and forgive my mother.

She also reported that he sometimes had a lack of focus, was very hyperactive much of the time, would get bored doing his homework, and was very obsessivewhich would drive everybody around him crazy because he would talk incessantly about it. Most of these are symptoms of ADD.

By this time, he was really getting into it and his energy level was coming up and his attitude was taking a definite swing toward the positive and upbeat. I had him tap on each of the issues separately until they all dropped to a 1-2. After each one, I asked him how he would like to act and believe and when we would come up with a new belief, we would tap all the points while repeating the new belief.

I did some further integration work with him and then future paced the new beliefs into the upcoming school days. I have not received a long term report, since I just saw him last week, but all of my tests I ran in the office indicated a successful visit.

Done by EFT Newcomers

Here are are two interesting cases...both done by EFT newcomers.

The first case involves "Tony" who used EFT for depression and tachycardia. He achieved improvements on both conditions....AND....discovered that a life-long issue with shyness simply disappeared. I have no explanation for this. I can only speculate that using EFT for depression collapsed some issues behind the scenes that contributed to both depression and shyness. Fortunately, we don't always have to know why. Sometimes we just have to settle for the results.

The second case was performed by Debra Trojan for a pregnant lady who was about to faint in an electronics store. Please note how EFT brought relief even though the lady's disbelief in the process was clearly evident (she called it a distraction). This case is very useful to show those who think EFT is merely a placebo. It worked splendidly even though the client had no belief in it and thus "explained it away" as a distraction.

***

I wanted to let you know of an interesting, unexpected result of EFT from your beginning course (the videos, by the way, are excellent--everything is unusually well explained, and the sound and image are excellent).

I have been in therapy for many years (Reichian, Primal) and have been going through a rough period the past two years since having a couple of heart attacks, which have left me with intermittent tachycardia. About two months ago, some old feelings around my dad came up and I was feeling very depressed. To make a long story short, a few days of EFT lifted the depression and I started feeling much better. Later, with the help of one of your therapists, I used it to reduce the tachycardia.

But the unexpected benefit has been the disappearance of life-long shyness! I wasn't even thinking of it as a problem, since it has been part of the fabric of my life as long as I remember. But now, when I am out walking my dog, or shopping, I easily (and I do mean easily and naturally) fall into conversation with complete strangers. It is as if a transparent wall that kept me apart from others has now dissolved. I have not had problems with contact with people once I get to know them, but just shyness with strangers.

Now it is gone!

If I happen to say hello to someone who does not feel like talking, I just let it go, whereas in the past my feelings would have been hurt. Now the process of meeting new people is so appealing that I look forward to it.

While before I hated 'small talk', I now enjoy it.

By Debra Trojan

I was quite startled by this experience, especially since Im just a beginner with EFT. (Ive only read the manual and website and then used it on a couple of family members and friends.)

I was at an electronics store, waiting at the service counter when a stranger called out to me. I turned around and saw a woman sitting on the floor looking as if she was going to pass out. I knelt down beside her and asked her what was wrong. She told me she was pregnant and that she was about to faint. She said she wanted someone to know this before she fainted so that no one would freak out when they saw her lying there.

I asked the staff to get her some water. In an attempt to comfort her, I told her not to worry; everything would be fine. However, my words didnt seem to phase her; she turned white and began to panic. She was sweating profusely and looked scared to death. So much so, that I began to panic; I didnt know what to do. I had never been in this kind of situation before.

Then, I thought of EFT. I told her that I wanted to try something on her that I thought might help and that it was going to seem silly but that she should just go along with it because it might really help her. Before she could say anything, I started tapping with the set-up:

"Even though I feel like Im oing to faint, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

She whispered the phrase while following my lead with the tapping. We got through the first sequence; then the 9 gamut. As I was starting the finishing sequence, she abruptly stopped and said "Oh its a distraction." (That was my first sign that it was working.) I told her that we were almost through and that she should continue to follow my lead; it would be just another minute and we would be finished. She indulged me and a minute later she was telling me that she was fine.

Please note: She didnt ay that she was feeling better; she said she was "fine." I said, "Are you sure; do you want me to walk you to your car." She responded: "No, thats not necessary; Im 100 percent!" She got right up and thanked me and was on her way.

Boy did I feel like a magician or what?
